Heart-warming Hot Chocolate

A drink that even the Swiss would be proud of.

Just to specify, this is hot chocolate, not hot cocoa. It’s thick, rich, indulgent and definitely not for the faint of heart. Make this when you’re in need of a warm sweet hug. It will brighten you up from the inside out.

Real Deal Hot Chocolate (serves 4):

2 cup non-dairy milk
1 tbsp cornstarch or tapioca starch
4 tbsp coconut sugar
1 cup dark chocolate
¼ salt

In a saucepan over low heat, combine milk and cornstarch and whisk to combine. Increase the heat to medium-high, and add the coconut sugar and dark chocolate. Continue to whisk as the mixture thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and serve alone or topped with coconut whipped cream. Store refrigerated for up to 3 days (if you can wait that long) in an airtight container.
